Creativity and mental wellbeing aren’t magical unicorns for a select few but birthrights. That’s why my newsletters and read-outs are free.
Having said this, your support is appreciated. If you would like to support my work, here’s what you can do:
Support The Creative Cure by leaving a tip
Have a look around my webpage. I have a range of services available that might be helpful to you, or someone you know
Share The Creative Cure with your creative friends. Spreading the word is hugely appreciated.
This newsletter is going to be short because it’s basically just an announcement:
I would like to invite you to a 7-Day Journaling Challenge for Creatives
(and I’m just calling it “challenge” because sometimes, challenging stuff gets unearthed—not because there are any prizes to be won, and no one will get over the finishing line first ;)).
The goal of this week-long experience is to help you discover more about what drives you as a creative (everyone’s welcome—artists, writers, musicians…, and it doesn’t have to be your job either), and maybe even find some useful strategies for the particular worries associated with working creatively. Every day builds on the one before with introspective practice, identifying patterns, and gaining practical insights.
We’re starting on Monday, May 19th and will finish on Sunday, May 25th, but you can do this at any point on your own. It would just be great to do this as a community of Creatives (of course no one has to share anything they don’t wish to share), and that’s why I will run it via my chat.
And this is where the poll comes in: It seems to me that the chat is a very underused feature—people are reading articles and notes and sometimes, they even comment on them (hurray!). However, getting people involved to participate in the chat often feels like pulling teeth (as in: zero replies or reactions). So I’m wondering how many of you actually know about the chat feature, that you can switch notifications for it on and off etc? And more broadly speaking:
How many of you are interested in Substack’s community features vs just reading and preferring not to engage beyond that?
If you are interested in certain topics only: What are they (you can use the comments for this, or send me a DM, or even reply via email if this is how you read this newsletter)?
And if you were one of the peope who went, “Chat? What Chat?”: You can find it here (and you can also find it via link on the homepage of this publication):
If you’d like to get notifications about chat threads, or are indeed thinking about taking part in the Journaling Challenge (or if you’d rather avoid notifications about it over the next week), you can switch them on and off like this via your account settings (you get there via the “Newsletter” tab on my homepage):
I’m looking forward to hear your opinions and will hopefully see you all next week!
If you would like to listen to a read-aloud version of this post, you can do this here:
I am very interested but will likely miss most of it due to a memorial service for my husband's parents (yeah, both in rapid succession, as they often do), so I might be sporadic. I am a songwriter, but haven't written much in a while, feeling the need for a jump start. Thanks for doing this!
